This pair of colorful little frogs (Spring Peepers) was the challenge for the 2005 Professional Picture Framers Association framing competition.

Each contestant receives the same art, and the variety of framing designs is amazing. We used 5 mats, alternating suedes and gold metallic, with a gold deep bevel edge under the top mat. The inner mats were cut in a leaf shape, since trees are where the Peepers spend much of their time.

Continuing this theme, we embossed the mat in a couple of places with more leaves. The frame is distressed black, with an antiqued gold lip, spotted to reflect the markings on the frogs.

We were thrilled when our entry placed first in the local chapter heat, and absolutely stunned when we placed second in the international competition.
